The agency also advocates for policies and laws that are supportive of mental health services and recovery. The agency handles phone calls requesting information and provides this comprehensive website. Our current program is the El Paso County Co-Occurring Disorders Collaboration or "The Collaborative," which is an integrated system that provide integrated care for uninsured and underinsured adults with co-occurring mental health and substance abuse disorders. The MHA/PPR serves as the managing partner of a community-wide systems change grant to address the concerns regarding the lack of a complementary and successful means for treating people with the co-occurring disorders of substance abuse and mental health issues. This five-year effort, funded through a grant from a collaboration of Colorado foundations, builds community collaboration among all providers serving this population and focuses on treating those with this disorder as a whole person, addressing not only their addiction and mental health concerns bu also their housing, job, physical health care and other concerns.
Children's Mental Health Matters provides no-cost mental health treatment to under and uninsured children, telephone and web-based information and referral services, and education and advocacy programs including community wide forums, health fairs and workplace seminars, and legislative and individual advocacy. Currently, this program is on hold pending funding.
